At Capacity Europe 2025, Ian Franklyn, Chief Revenue Officer at MainStreaming, joined Capacity TV to discuss how the company is helping ISPs and content providers tackle one of the biggest challenges in digital infrastructure today — the surge in video streaming traffic.

As streaming continues to dominate global internet usage and viewers consume more on-demand and live content than ever, ISPs are carrying the load. This exponential growth puts pressure on network capacity, leading to bottlenecks, rising costs, and fluctuating Quality of Experience (QoE). Therefore, this challenge demands closer collaboration between ISPs and content providers.

The “Better Together” Ecosystem

Unlike traditional CDNs that handle all types of content, MainStreaming is purpose-built for video. Its dedicated Edge Video Delivery architecture allows content providers to deliver streams over a managed MainStreaming network, offloading heavy traffic from ISPs and reducing bottlenecks that affect performance and QoE.

This model provides not only technical advantages, such as higher reliability and lower latency, but also economic benefits. MainStreaming’s business model is based on revenue-sharing partnerships with ISPs, offering predictable, capacity-based pricing that aligns incentives for all parties involved.

At the heart of this model lies MainStreaming’s Better Together approach, which places the viewer at the center of a shared ecosystem connecting ISPs, content providers, and MainStreaming.

This collaborative model has already proved successful with major partners such as Deutsche Telekom, where MainStreaming began delivering content for Magenta TV and is now expanding to support additional content providers in the region, improving QoE by bringing video closer to end users. The same approach is being replicated with BT Group in the UK, serving as a blueprint for expansion into the MENA and APAC regions.

Looking Ahead

As MainStreaming looks toward 2026, the company is strengthening its global ISP partnerships and expanding its collaborative ecosystem. By combining cutting-edge video delivery technology with a cooperative, viewer-centric mindset, MainStreaming continues to redefine how video moves across the internet, ensuring better performance, higher efficiency, and shared value for everyone in the streaming chain.
